Drew Galitz Ray Guy Award Punter of the Week – Week 3

Augusta, GA (September 18, 2017) – The Augusta Sports Council and the Ray Guy Award are proud to announce Drew Galitz of Baylor University as the Ray Guy Award Punter of the Week for Week 3 games. Galitz punted 7 times for 360 yards. He averaged 51.43 yards per punt with 3 punts marked inside Duke’s 20-yard line. Galitz’s net average from the game was an impressive 53.14 yards. His longest punt was a 70-yard punt and 4 of his punts were not returned.

Drew is a 5’11”, 205 lb junior at Baylor University studying Communication Studies. Galitz has helped Baylor football reach over 900 hours of community service in the summer of 2017 and throughout his career has spent time packing lunches for school children, reading to school children and visit special needs children.

About the Ray Guy Award
The Augusta Sports Council created the Ray Guy Award in 2000 to honor Thomson, Georgia native and College and Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee, Ray Guy. Among the statistics used to identify the winner is net punting average, number of times punt is downed or kicked out of bounds inside the opponents 20-yard line, total yardage punted, average returned yardage and percentage of punts not returned with particular emphasis placed on net punting average. The winner must display team leadership, self-discipline and have a positive impact on the team’s success.
